A type rating endorsement authorises a licensed engineer to certify maintenance on a specific aircraft type. Under EASA Part-66, completing an approved type rating course at a Part-147 organisation — combined with documented on-the-job experience on the type — is the required pathway before an AML holder can independently sign a Maintenance Release.
